Mardi Gras Reveler Experience FAQ
Is there a height limit to ride the floats?
All individuals must be over 48” tall to ride on the floats. No exceptions. Anyone who is under 48" at check in will not be permitted on the float and will not receive a refund.
Is there an age limit to ride the floats?
No one under the age of 18 is allowed on the floats without adult supervision. One adult is required per three minors. The adult supervisor must be on the same side of the float as the minors they are accompanying.
Do you have a bag policy? Can I bring my personal belongings on the floats?
Bags 4.5" x 6.5" in size, with or without a handle or strap, can be taken onto the Mardi Gras float. No other bags are permitted. Space is extremely limited on the Mardi Gras floats and a secure storage area is not provided. We strongly recommend bringing any bags back to your vehicle prior to boarding. Eastern States Exposition is not responsible for any missing or lost items.
What is the check in process?
Participants must arrive to the float boarding area behind the Transportation Center no later than 5:15pm and get in line at the check in table for their float. All individuals will be required to sign Eastern States Exposition's Mardi Gras Reveler Experience participation agreement and verbally agree to the rules. Staff members will check bags and height to ensure policies are upheld. Costumes will be distributed and individuals will board the floats.
Can I choose a float?
Yes! You can select a float and position on the float during the checkout process, pending availability. Mardi Gras floats include: Caribbean Carnival, The Boeuf Gras, Island Party, Carnival in Rio, Carneval di Venice, Mardi Gras New Orleans, African Safari and USA.
Are the floats wheelchair accessible?
No, the floats are not wheelchair accessible. Individuals with mobility or balance issues should not purchase a ticket for the Mardi Gras Reveler Experience. Entrance to the floats is via a ladder and there is no seating on board. All participants must be able to board the float and stand without assistance.
What time should I arrive?
Float boarding takes place promptly 45 minutes prior to parade start. Upon arrival, report to the Transportation Center behind the Maine building.
How long is the parade?
The Big Parade follows a one-mile route around the fairgrounds. The trip takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
Can I take beads home?
Mardi Gras Reveler Experience participants will receive an exclusive commemorative bead. Participants are also welcome to take up to 10 strands of beads. If you take more than the alloted number of beads, you will be asked to removed them prior to deboarding the floats. Don’t be greedy!
Will costumes be provided?
Yes, all participants are required to wear costumes provided by Eastern States Exposition. The costumes are a colorful smock that goes over your clothes. No face coverings are permitted for security purposes.
Will the parade be cancelled in the event of inclement weather?
The Big Parade will more than likely not operate if it is raining at the start time. Ticket purchasers will be notified one (1) hour prior to start time if the parade is cancelled. Notifications will be received via the email address used to purchase the tickets. Full refunds will be issued.
What happens if I don't follow the rules?
Eastern States Exposition reserves the right to remove anyone from the float at any time. If you don't follow the rules, you will be immediately removed from the float without refund.
