What is the Youth Working Steer Program?
Eastern States Exposition is proud to showcase this exceptional event each year during The Big E. Working steer teams are a cherished part of New England’s heritage, with driving and pulling skills that have been passed down for generations. During the Fair, youth participants demonstrate their ability to guide their teams in the ring while embracing the values of sportsmanship and cooperation. More than just an exhibition of animal handling and husbandry, this competition fosters teamwork, discipline, and resilience—valuable lessons that extend far beyond the show ring.
