Selected contestants compete, as a team and individually, to judge groups of dairy cattle classes. Each contestant then meets one-on-one with a judge, who listens to the reason for the contestant’s placement. Scores are based on presentation as well as accuracy of placement. Contestants gain skill in decision-making, critical thinking, oral communication, and self-esteem in addition to advancing their knowledge of the Dairy Cattle Industry. Judging contests are usually not open to the public.
