Youth Working Steer

What is the Youth Working Steer Program?

Eastern States Exposition is proud to host this show during The Big E each year. Working steer teams are part of our New England heritage, and this unique event is rarely seen outside of New England. Competitors learn more than just animal handling and husbandry skills. Youth exhibitors discover the true meaning of teamwork, and the importance of practice, patience, and persistence in everyday life.

Youth Working Steers at The Big E

During the Fair, youth participants demonstrate the driving and pulling skills that have been a part of New England’s history for hundreds of years. They are rewarded for their ability to guide their team in the ring, and for demonstrating sportsmanship and cooperation throughout their time as guests of The Big E.
