Formed in Colchester, England in 1979, Modern English was catapulted into mainstream success following the release of the 1982 album After the Snow, featuring the Billboard-charting single “I Melt With You.” The mega hit marked a shift in style from the group’s underground Post-Punk beginnings and became one of the most iconic songs of the New Wave era, earning Modern English a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 BMI Awards. Modern English continues to tour with four original members, including lead singer Robbie Grey.
