THE BIG E 2009 HORSE SHOW TRADITION CONTINUES
New Dates

The prestigious Eastern States Exposition Horse Show brings some of the best horses, riders and drivers from throughout the Northeast to West Springfield to pit their strength and skill against each other as they compete for top equine honors. Sponsored by Williams Distributing, this year's events include a repositioning of dates.

It all begins with the Saddlebred, Hackney, Morgan and Friesian Show, Sept. 17, one day before Opening Day at the Fair, through Sept. 20, featuring the NEHC Saddle Seat Medal Finals and ASHA Regional Championships.

The Big E Draft Horse Show  has been moved to the middle weekend of the Fair and will be held Thurs. - Sun., Sept. 24-27. The four-day competition, usually scheduled the final weekend of the Fair, will give fairgoers the opportunity to experience firsthand the energy and beauty of powerful hitches of Belgians, Clydesdales, Shires and Percherons. The highlight of the show is the presitgious $30,000 Big E Draft Horse Challenge.

The ESE Horse Show wraps up with the Hunter, Jumpers & Hunt Seat Equitation, Sept. 30-Oct. 4, featuring the USHJA Zone 1 Finals.

From petite ponies to towering draft horses, there's plenty of thrilling equestrian competition to watch, so find a seat in the grandstand as all the action unfolds in the ring.

All horse shows are held in the Coliseum including the 4-H Horse Show which takes place Sept. 23-26.
