THE NUTMEG STATE AT THE BIG E'S AVENUE OF STATES
The Avenue of States, showcasing the best of each New England state, is one of the most popular attractions at The Big E in West Springfield, Mass. A replica of each state's original capitol sits along the broad avenue offering fairgoers a unique opportunity to tour its finest destinations, sample mouth-watering foods and shop for Connecticut made crafts and native goods.
Connecticut Day is Wednesday, September 17, when the Nutmeg State puts its best foot forward for fairgoers from throughout New England. From the finest Connecticut products and foods to musical performances and special guests, there will be something for everyone at the Fair. Look for special activities scheduled on the front lawn. Marching bands and contingents perform in The Big E Daily Parade at 5 p.m.
The schedule for the Connecticut Building Stage is as follows: the Square Dance Foundation of New England, 9:45-10:45 a.m.; Conn. Troubadour, 11-11:30 a.m.; Wintergreen Magnet School Chorus, 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; "Mark Twain," 12:30-1 p.m. and 4:30-4:45 p.m.; Courtney Drummey Band, 1-2 p.m.; Steps In Time, 2:15-3:15 p.m.; Farmington Valley Chorus, 3:30-4:30 p.m.; Connecticut Day Parade Review, 5-6 p.m.; UCONN Singers/Conn-Men, 6-6:30 p.m.; The Glamour Girls, 7 p.m. Trampoline Performances will be from 10:45-11 a.m., 12:15-12:30 p.m. and 2-2:15 p.m.

The Connecticut Wine Council will showcase various fine wines from Connecticut vineyards. You may be able to view Jones Winery's Raspberry Rhapsody, which was the judge's choice for Best of Show, Best of Connecticut and Best Fruit wine at The Big E's 2008 Northeast Gold Wine Competition.
Look for Connecticut-made foods showcased on New England Specialty Foods Day, Friday, Sept. 26, on the lawn, and choose from some of the finest New England products. Events will consist of a Farmers Market on the front lawn of the building where several vendors will sell fresh Connecticut grown fruit and produce.
