A Massachusetts Department of Transportation bridge construction project on the South End (Julia B. Buxton) Bridge (Exit 3 off I-91, Rt. 5 North) will affect the traffic flow to and from Eastern States Exposition, especially from Connecticut and the South.

Finding your way around the construction can be easy with pre-planning using alternate routes outlined here and on our website, www.TheBigE.com. Please rely on these directions, in lieu of GPS information, to get you to the Exposition quickly and easily.

Travelers coming from Connecticut and points South

Follow I-91 North into Massachusetts from Rte. 2, I-84, I-95 or the Merritt Parkway and select one of the following routes:

A. Take Exit 6 toward Springfield Center. Merge onto East Columbus Avenue. Take a left at the fourth light (Sheraton/Marriott Hotels are on the right), going under the highway and over the Memorial Bridge. Follow the rotary to Rte. 147 west 1 mile to ESE’s Gate 9 parking lot.

B. Continue on I-91 North to Exit 9B (Route 20 West Springfield). Follow signs to West Springfield over North End Bridge and follow the signs to Rte. 5 South to Rte. 147 West or directions from traffic officers on duty.

C. Continue on I-91 North to Exit 13B, to Rte. 5 South, to Rte. 147 West. Continue approximately 3/4 mi. to ESE's Gate 9 public parking lot.

Additional Alternate Routes from Connecticut and Points South
A. TakeI-91 North to Conn. Exit 38 (Poquonock) to Rte. 75 North to Rte. 147 East. Continue approximately 1/2 mile to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

B. Take I-91 North to Conn. Exit 40 (Bradley Int'l. Airport) to Rte. 20 West to Rte. 75 North to Rte. 147 East. Continue approximately 1/2 mile to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

C. Take I-91 North to Conn. Exit 42 to Rte. 159 North to Rte. 147 East. Continue approximately 1/2 mile to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

D. Take I-91 North to Conn. Exit 47 West toRte. 190 West to Rte. 159 North to Rte. 147 East. Continue approximately 1/2 mile to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

From Bradley International Airport
Take Rte. 75 North to Rte. 147 East. Continue approximately 1/2 mile to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

From Southwestern Connecticut
Take Rte. 10/202 North to Southwick, Mass., turning right onto Rte. 57 East (4.7 mi.) to Rte. 75 North to Rte. 147 East to ESE grounds. Continue to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

From Boston and Points East

Pick a suggested route:

A. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike West to Exit 6 (Springfield). Take left at the light onto Rte. 291 West to I-91 North/Route 20 West (left lane). Follow Route 20 West signs and take Exit 9B (Route 20/West Springfield) and continue over the North End Bridge. Follow the signs to Rte. 5 South and to Rte. 147 West to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

B. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike West to Exit 4, to Rte. 5 South to Rte. 147 West. Continue approximately 3/4mi. to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

C. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike West to Exit 4, to Rte. 5 South to Rte. 20 West and follow the directions of the traffic officers on duty.

Travelers from the Berkshires and Points West should take the Massachusetts Turnpike East to Exit 4, to Rte. 5 South, to Rte. 147 West. Continue approximately 3/4mi. to ESE's Gate 9 parking lot.

Visitors from Vermont and points North:

A. Take I-91 South to Mass. Exit 13B, to Rte. 5 South, to Rte. 147 West. Continue approximately 3/4 mi. to ESE's Gate 9 public parking lot.

B. Take I-91 South to Mass. Exit 13B, to Rte. 5 South, to Rte. 20 west and follow the directions of the traffic officers on duty.

rely on the directions/alternate routes above and/or follow the directions of State and local police to avoid delays.

If  you are attending a show/event at Eastern States Exposition (The Big E or non-Fair),

use 875 Memorial Avenue, West Springfield, Mass., as your destination address

(coordinates: 42 °05'38.88"N - 72 °36'42.36"W - Elev. 52') to enter our main parking lot at Gate 9.

For Gate 1, (Exhibitor tags only) use 1761 Memorial Avenue as your destination address

(coordinates: 42 °05'29.21"N - 72°37'28.35"W - Elev. 53')
