NEW ENGLAND SHEEP AND WOOL GROWERS ASSOCIATION YOUTH AWARD; DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED
NES&WGA will be presenting the annual youth grant at the New England Sale on Friday, July 19, 2013. Three $150 cash awards are awarded annually to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding young men and women involved in the Northeast sheep industry for at least two years.
• Applicants must be at least 12 years old and not older than 18 as of January 1, 2013
• Applicants must reside in one of the New England States or themselves or families are members of NES&WGA
• We encourage all youth to apply
• The three winners of the Youth Grant will be asked to return to the NES&WGA Annual Meeting in July 2014 and give a report on how their grant money was used

NEW ENGLAND SHEEP AND WOOL GROWERS ASSOCIATION HARRY HARDWICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP; DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED
The New England Sheep and Wool Growers Association annually present TWO memorial awards for $750 each. To qualify, a student must be completing half of his or her college studies the year in which the application is made or be enrolled in graduate school. The applicant can not be in a Dual Enrollment program (being enrolled in High School and College at the same time).
FIRST AWARD: Student must be majoring in an agricultural field.
SECOND AWARD: Student should have a 4-H, FFA or Youth Sheep Project background, but may be majoring in a non-agricultural field.
These awards are available to residents of the New England States and Eastern New York State where the New England Sheep and Wool Growers have an appointed director or to students who themselves or families are members of NES&WGA.

NORTHEAST SOUTHDOWN ASSOCIATION
2013 SOUTHDOWN YOUTH AWARD
The main goal of the Southdown Youth Award is to donate a quality Southdown ewe lamb to a well deserving youth who shows a need, and has demonstrated enthusiasm, and interest in the showing and breeding of Southdown sheep. Anyone who has not won a ewe lamb previously is eligible to enter. The criteria used in judging this award will consist of the following categories:
• sheep and livestock experience
• knowledge of the sheep project
• maturity and responsibility
• need for financial assistance
• parental support
• visibility of project
• improvement of current Southdown breeding program or starting a Southdown breeding program
