Interested in having a lesson plan on chicks and incubation?

Bring your students to the Fair to see it on a grand scale. We hatch over 2,000 chicks during the 17-day Fair and keep them in a state-of-the-art hatchery. We also have a brooding area for the older chicks.

Are children eating enough foods with calcium?

Stop at the dairy education area and see the relationship between dairy intake and health.  Watch the dairy cow milking demo on video or perhaps be present for the daily cow and goat milking demonstrations.

Taking your class to a Christmas Tree Farm?

Meet Christmas tree operators firsthand, see the grand champion tree and discover why it was selected as a perfect tree.

Investigating historical farming practices?

Visit the Storrowton Village garden and see what your vegetable garden may have looked like in the 19th century. Speak with youth exhibiting working oxen Sept. 25, watch horse and ox pulling Sept. 25 & 26 and see how sheep are herded at our sheep dog trials Sept. 18 & 19.  Stop by the antique tractor exhibit and witness the mechanical evolution that occurred in the early 20th century. Visit the Fiber Nook and check out weaving and spinning exhibitions throughout the day.

Farm-A-Rama stage

The stage is an exciting place.  From beekeeping to llama care, the stage activities vary daily as do our other educational opportunities at The Big E.  We suggest that you check the schedule to see which animals will be at The Big E when you visit. We change the barn's inhabitants many times during the Fair.
